Eric Yin Yu is a Hong Kong–born classical guitarist based in Edinburgh. He is an active performer, guitar and ukulele teacher, and assistant conductor of the Edinburgh Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra. His musical journey has taken him from Hong Kong to the USA and now the UK, with appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, concerto performances, and guest soloist invitations from leading music groups.
Eric holds a Master of Music in Guitar Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with David Leisner and Mark Delpriora, and a BA (Hons) in Music from Hong Kong Baptist University. He has performed in masterclasses with world-renowned guitarists including Álvaro Pierri, David Russell, Oscar Ghiglia, and Pepe Romero, and was awarded the HKSAR Government Talent Development Scholarship in 2014.
In Hong Kong, Eric was active as a performer and educator, co-founding the Quartar Guitar Quartet, teaching at the Hong Kong Music Institute and Lingnan University, and collaborating with ensembles such as Collegium Musicum Hong Kong on international tours.
Now based in Edinburgh, Eric continues to perform and teach, contributing to the city’s vibrant cultural life while sharing his passion for music with students of all ages.
